Laura’s father died when she was just 9 years old, and her mother died seven years later. Both deaths were unexpected, but her parents had taken the time to prepare their family for the possibility that something could happen to them.

They had life insurance in place, talked with family members about who would care for Laura and her brother, and made sure their children knew their wishes—including that they wanted to be cremated.

Their preparation became the inspiration for Ante Tu, a life-planning platform.

The name Ante Tu is inspired by the idea of “before you.” Before the crisis. Before the emergency. Before your family has to guess. Before someone else has to make a decision for you. Have the conversations “I was incredibly fortunate that my parents had these conversations with us when they were young and healthy,” says Laura, co-founder of Ante Tu. “We didn't know we would need that information so soon, but when the unexpected happened, my brother and I weren't left guessing about what they wanted.”

Planning Ahead at Any Age Ante Tu was created to change the way people think about planning. Rather than rushing around later in life or facing serious illness, Ante Tu encourages people to start at any age and revisit their plans as life changes.

The platform provides a place for individuals to organize important information and decisions—including healthcare wishes, legal and financial information, insurance, emergency contacts, personal preferences, and other details their loved ones may need to know.

One of Ante Tu's key features is the ability to keep important information in one secure place online, with access available to designated close family members. The goal is to eliminate searching for important documents, accounts, contacts, or instructions during an emergency. Its philosophy is that preparation isn't about focusing on death—it is about protecting the future and the people you love.

“People spend years building their lives, but so much of the information that matters most to their families can be scattered across filing cabinets, emails, phones, and different accounts,” Laura says. “Ante Tu brings that information together so the people you trust can actually find it when they need it.”

Preparing Before a Crisis Ante Tu encourages decisions to be discussed and documented before a crisis occurs, while individuals are able to clearly communicate their wishes.

“Planning ahead isn't about expecting something bad to happen,” Laura says. “It's about making things easier for the people you love if life takes an unexpected turn.”

“I know firsthand what it feels like to lose a parent unexpectedly,” she says. “I also know what a difference it made that my parents had prepared us. That experience is why I want other families to have these conversations before they think they need to.”
